The National Resistance Movement has rolled out a parish-led and door to door mobilization plan as the party enters what leaders describe as the last mile of the campaign ahead of polling day.
Party officials say the strategy targets districts where structures have been activated to push turnout and firm up support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Speaking to journalists, NRM Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja said the plan brings together national leaders, senior cadres and grassroots structures.
“Village leaders will meet at their parishes to receive guidance from the national chairman and the Secretary General. They will coordinate door to door and village to village outreach,” she said.
She said the party will involve 63 leaders in each village, working alongside the existing 30 structure leaders and special interest group representatives.
Meanwhile, the NRM Director for Mobilization Rosemary Seninde said the new approach responds to concerns raised during earlier campaigns. She said, “Some leaders felt left out in the past. This time everyone is involved. New leaders at district and village levels are now taking charge as foot soldiers.”
Nekesa Barbra Oundo, the NRM National Treasurer, said the current phase follows a long period of internal preparation. This included updating the party register to 20.7 million members, holding structure elections in more than 72,000 villages and conducting primaries.
She said the parish mobilization plan highlights seven priority contributions the party wants to communicate to voters. She added, “We expect leaders to take this mobilization seriously so all generations understand the role of the NRM.”
Currently, Candidate Museveni has covered 96 districts on his campaign trail, moving through Luwero, Lango, West Nile, Acholi, Karamoja, Teso, Bugisu, Sebei, Bukedi, Busoga, Kigezi and Ankole. He is now in the Rwenzori region covering Bunyangabu, Kasese and Ntoroko as he seeks another term in office.
