Police in Kwania District have opened investigations into the death of a Senior Four student at Abongomola Seed Secondary School, in what authorities suspect was a mob assault by fellow learners.
The deceased, identified as 16-year-old Solomon Lukori, a resident of Emeny Chawente Sub-county, reportedly died after being attacked by a group of students over allegations of theft involving fellow students’ belongings.
According to police, officers from Kwania Central Police Station have arrested the school’s headteacher along with several students to assist with inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Lukori’s body was taken to Aduku Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Preliminary findings indicate the incident may have been an act of mob justice, raising serious concerns about discipline, student safety, and supervision at the school.
The incident has triggered anger among residents, with many demanding accountability from school authorities and stronger measures to prevent violence in learning institutions. Local leaders and education officials are yet to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
