Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda crossed the finish line first at the 2025 Chicago Marathon on Sunday, clocking a winning time of 2 hours, 2 minutes, and 23 seconds.
The 25-year-old athlete made history as the first Ugandan to win a World Marathon Major, one of the sport’s most prestigious series of races. Kenyans dominated the podium behind him: Amos Kipruto took second place, followed by Alex Masai in third.
This triumph marked Kiplimo’s second career marathon. He had previously debuted in April at the London Marathon, where he finished second.
His performance highlights his rapid rise in distance running, adding to his accolades from track and cross-country events.
