‎Namayanja made the remarks on Sunday when she joined members of the Rotary Club of Semuto in Nakaseke District to welcome Rotary District 9213 Governor Gerald Obai during his official club visit.

‎

‎During the visit, Namayanja was formally inducted as a member of the Rotary Club of Semuto, joining a global network of more than 1.2 million Rotarians in about 45,000 clubs worldwide.

‎

‎She was also recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow after making a US$1,000 contribution to support activities of the Rotary Foundation.

‎

‎Rotary is a global network of community volunteers, business leaders and professionals dedicated to humanitarian service and initiatives that promote peace and improve communities.

‎

‎Dr. George Williams Kisitu, President of the Rotary Club of Semuto, and District Governor Gerald Obai congratulated Namayanja on her induction and pledged to work with her to expand Rotary’s service projects in Nakaseke.

‎

‎Speaking after her induction, Namayanja said she joined Rotary because of its commitment to the principle of service.

‎

‎Namayanja, who is also involved in charitable activities through the Rose Namayanja Foundation, said Rotary provides an opportunity to bring together people with diverse expertise and resources to serve communities without expecting anything in return.

‎

‎“That brings me into Rotary, and for me, it is also one of the things that took me into politics—to make a contribution to the community where we come from and elsewhere,” Namayanja told fellow Rotarians.

‎

‎She commended Rotarians for implementing projects designed to create lasting and meaningful impact in communities.

‎

‎Namayanja particularly highlighted a road safety initiative introduced by District Governor Gerald Obai, which has been implemented in Semuto through awareness campaigns targeting boda boda riders and the wider community on the importance of preventing road crashes and protecting lives.

‎

‎She described the initiative as timely, noting that road crashes continue to claim many lives, and disclosed that she is herself a survivor of a serious road accident that left her with a permanent injury.

‎

‎“So, for me, that is a project that I take very, very personally, and I’m ready to work with all the members of Rotary and others to ensure that we fight accidents as best as we can,” Namayanja said.

‎

‎According to Police crime report ,Road traffic deaths in Uganda rose to 5,383 in 2025, averaging 15 fatalities per day, highest between 6pm and 8pm.

‎

‎Rotary clubs across Uganda have made road safety a mandatory and prominent focus for the year under District Governor Gerald Obai leadership rolling out various campaigns to curb traffic accidents and protect road users.

‎Apart from road safety project, Rotary implements several other projects in health, education, economic empowerment and environment among other areas of focus create lasting impact in communities.
