As Primary Seven pupils across the country prepare for their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) next week, the Rotary Club of Masaka District, in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Masaka District, has extended support to several schools in the area.
The initiative is aimed at boosting candidates’ performance by providing essential scholastic materials, including geometry sets, pens, sanitary towels, and other items. Beneficiary schools included Kirimya Islamic Primary School, St. Mary’s Primary School Mirembe–Butale Kaddugala, and Grace Aid Nursery and Primary School.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Rotary Club of Masaka District President, Rtn. Madrine Namayengo, said the club decided to intervene after observing that many learners struggle due to a lack of basic scholastic materials.
“We discovered that many learners struggle in school because they lack the basic items needed for study and exams. That is why we came out to support them,” Namayengo said.
She further encouraged the candidates to trust in God and work hard, emphasizing that faith, combined with effort, leads to success.
School heads from the beneficiary institutions, led by Kalanda Arnold of Grace Aid Nursery & Primary School and Naluhooti Grace of St. Mary’s Mirembe Primary School, expressed gratitude to the Rotary members for their generosity and commitment to education. They noted that the support will motivate pupils and enhance their readiness for the final exams.
“These materials will help our learners perform better in their exams. We are grateful to Rotary for thinking about our children,” one of the head teachers said.
The Rotary Club of Masaka District, together with Masaka City Rotary and partner clubs, has in recent months undertaken several community projects, including donations of maternity equipment to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital, participation in the annual Rotary Cancer Run, and other initiatives supporting health, education, and livelihoods.
