The Deputy Secretary General of National Resistance Movement party has commended the LC 5 Chairperson of Luwero district for maintaining good working relations with the government.
Erastus Kibirango the LC 5 Chairperson of Luwero district was re-elected for a second term on the National Unity Platform ticket.
Kibirango, speaking at the installation of SDA Church North Buganda Field President George Wilson Ssekaggo in Luwero town on Saturday, said he’ll work with the NRM government to serve Luwero residents, despite being NUP-affiliated.
Pastor Ssekaggo replaced Pastor David Ssimwogerere who was recently elected Bishop of the SDA Central Buganda Conference.
Kibirango said although he is on NUP ticket , he will continue to lobby and remind the NRM government to deliver on its promises among them to build a fruit processing plant to boost value for Luwero’s pineapple and other crops
Kibirango urged David Bahati Minister of state for Trade ,Industry and Cooperatives ( Industry ) to expedite the government’s pledge on the fruit processing plant .
In response, Minister Bahati, the chief guest, revealed that the government has already allocated 20 billion shillings in the 2026/27 financial year budget for the juice processing plant.
” Chairman we have already planned for the juice processing plant and allocated money towards it .Don’t say you lobbied for it ,the NRM government planned for it already” Bahati told Kibirango
Rt Hon Rosemary Namayanja Nsereko congratulated Pastor Ssekaggo and urged him to push for North Buganda Field’s elevation to conference.
Namayanja a devoted Adventist also praised David Ssimwogerere the first President of North Buganda Field saying he laid a strong foundation and mentored many people including herself .
At the ceremony she commended Kibirango for collaborating with the NRM government to serve Luwero residents.
” Some of the projects you see ,we lobbied them with Kibirango and the late RDC Richard Bwabye. He has maintained good working relations with the NRM government despite being NUP affiliated and I thank him for that ” Namayanja said
Namayanja called on leaders to prioritize service delivery and urged citizens to focus on work, citing the successful conclusion of the electoral period .
” Allow me to congratulate the people of Greater Luwero for successfully passing through the electoral period. The season was not easy but it ended and on May 12th the president will be sworn in. I want to ask the people to focus on work and leaders should ensure service delivery to all people irrespective of their political parties” Namayanja said
Currently the government is completing the construction of Luwero district headquarters and district hospital .
Namayanja emphasized that leadership roles are temporary, urging leaders to focus on contributing to community development
Recently the Minister of State for Luwero Triangle also praised Kibirango for fostering good working relations with the NRM government.
The installation ceremony was attended by Members of Parliament that include Denis Sekabira ( Katikamu North), Robert Ssekitoleko ( Bamunanika County ) , Victoria Zawedde ( Nakasongola District Woman MP) and Noah Mutebi ( Nakasongola County) .
Others include MP Elects Charles Nsereko Basajjassubi ( Nakaseke South) and Engineer Berunado Ssebugga ( Budyebo County ) .
