The National Unity Platform Presidential Candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi has asked General Salim Saleh to restrain his brother, President Yoweri Museveni and son Muhoozi Kainerugaba from committing more atrocities against Ugandans.
As the Country marked its 63rd Independence Day at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, Kyagulanyi held presidential campaigns on Thursday in Nakaseke district. Kyagulanyi entered Nakaseke through Matugga to Semuto –Kapeeka road and thereafter addressed a rally at Kamuli playground in Kikamulo sub-county.
Kyagulanyi made a stopover at Semuto town council and attempted to address his enthusiastic supporters, but security personnel confiscated the public address system hired by area Member of Parliament Paul Luttamaguzi.
However, Kyagulanyi later managed to address his supporters at Kamuli playground at his official rally in the district.
During the rally, Kyagulanyi told the residents that Uganda has been under the Museveni regime for 40 out of 63 years of independence, but the situation is worse than colonial times.
Kyagulanyi decried of poor road network, health services, corruption and human rights abuses among other things.
Kyagulanyi rallied the residents to use the Electoral season to rise and vote for him if they were to gain real independence.
At the same rally, Kyagulanyi sent a message to General Salim Saleh, whom he described as a former friend, asking him to restrain his brother Museveni and son General Muhoozi Kainerugaba from committing more atrocities against Ugandans.
“My Friend Saleh, you see how your son is arresting and torturing Ugandans. Museveni is old and tired. You are the only reasonable person in that family and have a chance to talk to Museveni to retire peacefully. I am ready to talk to Ugandans to forgive him of all atrocities committed under his government and retire peacefully, but if he hangs on, Ugandans will deal with him themselves,” Kyagulanyi said
Kyagulanyi also warned children of NRA fighters not to be misled into thinking that they will continue with the legacy of Museveni as they look on.
Kyagulanyi also sent a message to Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama thanking him for telling off Resident District Commissioners to stop blocking his rallies.
“First of all, I want to appreciate you, because after numerous complaints, I watched you on TV, telling off the RDCs to stop blocking us from our rallies. I appreciate you for that, at least you spoke, but we want action. Because even today, we were blocked from addressing our rally and our speakers were taken away. The oppression continues. Mr Byabakama, you hold a very important office. You can still do the right thing. You can still redeem yourself from the 2021 mess, because the people of Uganda are not going to settle for anything less than their right,” Kyagulanyi said.
Earlier on, in the area, Members of Parliament, Paul Luttamaguzi and Allan Mayanja decried rampant land grabbing, poor road network and other social services before asking residents to vote for Kyagulanyi to save them.
Kyagulanyi on Friday heads to Nakasongola district for his Presidential campaign.
