Police at Kabalagala Police Station have arrested the prime suspect in connection with the death of Afrigo Band musician Matovu Moses.
The suspect has been identified as Nsamba Vincent, 41, who was apprehended following investigations into the circumstances surrounding the musician’s death.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said Nsamba was arrested in Ochange Ward, Yesu Amala, Nansana Division, Wakiso District.
In a statement posted on X, Kawala said investigations into the incident were still ongoing as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding Matovu’s death and identify all those responsible.
Matovu was killed on Thursday morning at Kibuli Depot in Makindye Division, Kampala District, in an incident that has sparked widespread concern.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that Matovu had gone to his girlfriend’s residence at around 5:30 a.m.
According to Kawala, Matovu and the woman were leaving the residence when they were allegedly confronted by Nsamba, who had previously been in a relationship with the same woman.
A confrontation reportedly followed, during which Matovu sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to Kibuli Hospital by a boda boda rider but later succumbed to his injuries.
Police also arrested the woman, identified as Rose Tumusiime, who was with Matovu at the time of the incident.
Kawala said preliminary information indicates that the incident may have followed a physical altercation.
Police investigations remain ongoing.
