President Yoweri Museveni has officially been sworn in as President of Uganda for the 2026–2031 term.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, with President Museveni taking the oath at around 11:50 a.m. The event was presided over by Chief Justice Dr. Flavian Zeija.
Earlier, Electoral Commission Chairperson Simon Byabakama announced the official results of the January 15, 2026 presidential election, declaring Museveni the winner before inviting the Chief Justice to oversee the inauguration ceremony.
Holding the Bible, President Museveni first took the oath of allegiance and was later handed the Constitution of Uganda along with the instruments of power.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, the President inspected the parade before returning to his seat.
By press time, President Museveni had not yet addressed the nation as the parade continued marching off the grounds.
