The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has unveiled its roadmap for the election of Village LC1 chairpersons and Women Council leaders, urging party members across the country to actively participate in the exercise.
NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong said the process commenced on July 6 and will continue until July 10, 2026, with the compilation of the party’s general voters’ register and village women registers by the NRM Electoral Commission.
According to the roadmap, village meetings will be held on July 10 to fill vacant Village LC1 chairperson positions and nominate candidates for the Village Women Council. Candidate endorsement at the village level will take place between July 11 and 14.
The party will then conduct nominations for candidates at the sub-county, town council and municipal division levels from July 15 to 19.
As part of the preparations, the NRM has scheduled village mobilization barazas on July 22, bringing together all nominated candidates and party members ahead of the elections.
Voting for the five Village Women Committee members will be held on July 23 using the lining-up method, while elections for Village LC1 chairpersons are scheduled for July 28, 2026.
Todwong called on all NRM members to take part in every stage of the electoral process, saying broad participation is essential to ensuring free, transparent and successful village elections.
