‎The elections were conducted to fill the positions of Women Council Chairperson and four committee members in every village.

‎

‎According to preliminary results released by the Electoral Commission, the NRM dominated the polls in Nakaseke, Nakasongola and Luwero

‎

‎In Nakaseke District, the NRM secured 1,950 seats. Independent candidates won 103 seats, while the National Unity Platform (NUP) captured 34 seats.

‎

‎In Nakasongola District, results from 14 of the 15 sub-counties and town councils indicate that the NRM won 1,519 seats. Independent candidates secured 64 seats, while NUP won only two seats all in Migyera Town Council.

‎

‎In Luwero District, the NRM won 2,384 seats, compared to 144 for NUP and 420 for independent candidates.

‎

‎According to the Electoral Commission, the NRM won all 89 Women Council seats in Luwero Town Council, while the remaining committee positions were taken by independent candidates. NUP did not secure any seats in the town council.

‎

‎According to the Electoral Commission, the NRM won all 89 Women Council seats in Luwero Town Council, while the remaining committee positions were taken by independent candidates. NUP did not secure any seats in the town council.

‎

‎NUP also failed to win any seats in Bombo, Makulubita, Zirobwe, and Kikyusa sub-counties. The party, however, secured one seat each in Busiika Sub-county, Kamira Sub-county, and Kamira Town Council.

‎

‎The NUP party registered its strongest performance in Katikamu Sub-county, where it won 56 seats, while the NRM secured 265.

‎

‎Sam Buchanan, the NRM District Chairperson for Luwero, said the results demonstrate that the ruling party remains strong despite its relatively poor performance in the last general elections.

‎

‎Buchanan attributed the party’s earlier losses to what he described as “confusion” during the general elections.

‎

‎He said the party is ready to sweep all LC 1 Chairperson seats in the upcoming elections.

‎

‎However, Erastus Kibirango, the Luwero District LC5 Chairperson elected on the NUP ticket, alleged that there was intimidation during the electoral process, claiming that some NUP candidates feared they could win but not be declared victorious.

‎

‎Kibirango also noted that voting patterns in LC1 and Women Council elections differ from those in general elections, arguing that voters tend to prioritize individual candidates over political party affiliation in local leadership contests.

‎

He added that he is ready to work with the newly elected Women Council committees, regardless of their political affiliation, as long as they are committed to serving the interests of their communities.
